Erectile Dysfunction

Hope and help for erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common problem that many men face. In fact, over 18 million men in the United States alone suffer from ED. Although ED can be frustrating and embarrassing, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone and that there are treatments available to help.

As the name implies, erectile dysfunction is when a man has difficulty getting or keeping an erection for sexual intercourse. ED can affect men of all ages, but it is most common in men over the age of 50. In fact, at least half of men over 50 experience some loss of function.

Despite it being a common male condition, it is not common to seek treatment for it. Only 10 percent of men with ED actually ask their doctors for help.

At Connexus, we understand what a sensitive subject ED is. But we also want you to know that you don’t have to suffer in silence – you have options. We offer customized solutions featuring FocusedWave Therapy that provide new hope and help to men with ED, even if their conditions haven’t responded to other therapies.

What causes ED?

To understand what causes ED, you first need to understand the physiology of how an erection occurs.

During sexual arousal, impulses from the brain and local nerves cause the muscles of the corpora cavernosa to relax, allowing blood to flow in and fill the open spaces. The blood creates pressure in the corpora cavernosa, making the penis expand and creating an erection.

Erectile dysfunction occurs when the blood has difficulty getting in or staying in the corpora cavernosa.

Common conditions and circumstances that can contribute to ED include:

– High blood pressure
– Elevated cholesterol
– Cardiovascular disease
– Stroke
– Diabetes
– Neurologic diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
– Hypogonadism (low testosterone)
– Hyperprolactinemia (high prolactin levels)
– Prostate surgery
– Rectal and bladder cancer surgery
– Medication side effects
– Alcohol and drug abuse

Help is here.
FocusedWave therapy

The Connexus Clinic specializes in treating our ED patients using the innovative and effective FocusedWave Therapy. During a series of treatments, a small wand uses targeted sound waves to stimulate penile tissue and encourage blood flow. Low-intensity shockwaves have been shown to grow new blood vessels and improve blood flow in the penis, which is essential for erections.
